Working North Glasgow

North Area, 12/05/2008

Glasgow North Regeneration Agency (GNRA) is the lead partner with responsibility for coordinating activity around the Working Glasgow theme. The following structures have been developed to take forward the employability agenda in the North Glasgow strategic planning area:

North Glasgow Employability Strategy Group

North Glasgow Employability Operational Group

North Glasgow Employability Practitioners Group

Membership of the Strategic Employability Group includes: Careers Scotland; Glasgow North Regeneration Agency; Job Centre Plus; North Glasgow Community Health & Care Partnership; North Glasgow College; North Glasgow Community Planning Partnership; and a representative from the business sector.

The group works in partnership to meet the aims of the Welfare to Work agenda through the development of an employability action plan for the strategic planning area which links with the priorities of the City Strategy Bid.

The City Strategy launch event for the North area on 18th September 2007 was attended by a broad range of public, private and voluntary organisations from across the health, social care and employability sectors. A number of key outcomes were identified to help inform local priorities and solutions with regards to the City Strategy and the Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) agenda for the 16-19 age range. Outcomes will inform future discussion at the North Glasgow Employability Strategy and Operational Groups and will be considered for incorporation into the North Glasgow Employability Action Plan.
