Plans for Lambhill Stables

North Area, 04/05/2007

The Lambhill Stables site was built around 1856 for the horses that pulled the barges through the Forth and Clyde Canal. It is a Grade C-listed historical building. The dereliction of these historic buildings is a source of concern for the local community.

The initial aim of the Lambhill Stables project is to restore & enhance the existing Lambhill Stables as an important historical landmark and environmental amenity, providing local residents with access to occupational training and employment opportunities. It will also offer visitors a unique local heritage leisure experience as a state-of-the-art, canal restoration ‘extension project’ linked to the Green Corridor that is being created along the Forth and Clyde Canal between Sighthill and Maryhill Locks.

The development proposal for the Lambhill Stables site has been constructed with the aim of sympathetically developing the existing site, in keeping with the area whilst creating a fit for purpose space that can be used to its best advantage to deliver a wide range of services to the community.
